Jazz Trumpet by Colin M Fisher
In his prior career, Colin Fisher worked as a jazz trumpet player and occasionally moonlights as one in London. He is currently a member of Suedejazz Collective (Spotify, Instagram) and is a regular at the weekly jam at Grow, hosted by Stratos.

In his years on the Boston jazz scene, Colin was a long time member of Either/Orchestra, with whom he toured the U.S., Europe, and Africa, playing with such guests as John Tchcai, John Medeski (Medeski, Martin, and Wood), Dickie Barrett (Mighty Mighty Bosstones), Don Byron, and Matt Wilson. Awards and honors with the Either/Orchestra include The Boston Phoenix’s “Best Jazz Band in Boston 1997” and Down Beat International Critics’ Poll “Big Band Talent Deserving Wider Recognition/Rising Star” (1997-2005). Colin also performed and recorded with Miracle Orchestra, named “Best New Jazz Band 1998” by Boston Magazine and performed at Phish’s Lemonwheel in 1998.
At New England Conservatory, Colin performed under the direction of Gunther Schuller, Sam Rivers, George Russell, Bob Moses, Dominique Eade, Bob Brookmeyer, and Benny Golson. Colin studied with Fred Hersch, John McNeil, Charlie Schlueter, Charlie Banacos, Paul Bley, and Cecil McBee.
As a member of the Either/Orchestra, Colin performed and recorded with bandmates Russ Gershon, Tom Halter, Joel Yennior, Charlie Kohlhase, Henry Cook, Kurtis Rivers, Dan Kaufman, Greg Burk, Leo Blanco, Rafael Alcala, Rick McGlauglin, Vicente Lebron, Harvey Wirth, Pablo Bencid, Jeremy Udden, Jaleel Shaw, and Miguel Zenon. He has also performed and recorded with Gétatchèw Mèkurya, Mulatu Astatké, Tsèdènia Gèbrè-Marqos, Bahta Gèbrè-Heywèt, Michael Bèlaynèh, and Mahmoud Ahmed.
Originally from Redmond, Washington, Colin received his Bachelor’s in jazz trumpet from New England Conservatory of Music. He also studied at New York University (M.A.) and Harvard University (M.A., Ph.D.). Colin is also a well-known professor at University College London, specializing in improvisation, creativity, and group dynamics.
